A conversation with Stanton Griffis, former US ambassador to Poland (1947-1948), Egypt (1948-1949), Argentina (1949-1950), and Spain (1951-1952). He is interviewed by Angier Biddle Duke and Dick Rosse, May 1974, in Palm Beach, Florida. His wife, Elizabeth Blakemore Griffis, is also present. In this conversation, they discuss Griffis' diplomatic career. He had a front seat to some of the most exciting and divisive foreign policy questions of his day. Griffis speaks about Generalissimo Franco's reign in Spain, his friendship with Evita Perón, and how he fostered a unique relationship with Sweden during World War II in order to convince them to help hasten the war's end.
