Calvin R. King Sr., is executive director of the Arkansas Land and Farm Development Corporation, a non-profit, community development organization, which he founded in 1980 in Arkansas. King, a 1975 graduate of Philander Smith College, returned to his home in Lee County, Arkansas, in the late 1970s to help minority and disadvantaged family farmers hold on to their land and convert to more profitable nontraditional crops. He has received a number of awards for his efforts, including a MacArthur Fellowship in 1990. Interviewed by Robert Korstad, Kevin D.
